F.R.E.S.H. Project Giving Out Seeds at March Winter Market
It’s not too soon to start planning your summer garden and The F.R.E.S.H. Project is making that even easier by giving out free vegetable seed packets.
Making it easier to get fresh produce is part of the Project’s mission to make sure everyone has access to good and healthy food, the F.R.E.S.H. Project will be handing out free garden seeds at their last Winter Market, Saturday, March 2 from 8 am – noon held at The First Presbyterian Church, Shawano.
“We’re all about fresh produce to ensure good, healthy food for everyone,” said the F.R.E.S.H. Project’s Executive Director, Barb Mendoza. “In addition to the seed distribution, this will be the last opportunity to visit the Winter Market for the season. It’s a great time to come to the Winter Market and buy local. We will have meat and vegetable producers along with bakery and craft vendors. There will also be live music provided by “Sam and Rachel”.
In addition, The F.R.E.S.H. Project will be selling their new healthy cookbook, filled with more than 160 recipes donated by community. Recipes include healthy appetizers, main entrees, salads, desserts, and preserving tips. Cookbooks are available for a $10 donation.
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The F.R.E.S.H. Project’s work is made possible through the generous support of the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region, and community and private donations. All these efforts are geared to fulfilling the Project’s mission of “Building the foundation for healthier, accessible, and sustainable food systems by increasing food security, educating, and engaging the community.”
